This is an excellent overview of the new home page. When they changed it, I was immediately impressed, and this list quantifies why. I think point #4 is especially powerful. I remember visiting Twitter for the first time a couple of years ago and being very confused as to what I was actually being asked to sign up for. Having a relatively low adoption fear of most things tech, I did it anyway, but not on the first visit. If they had shown me what I was getting into, I would have had fewer reservations.

Immediately upon seeing this, I showed it to five or six people. I don’t know what is it about the site, but… It’s just right on. That’s the only way to describe their homepage. It’s accomplishes complete relevancy, which most sites fail to do.

Funny that you mention “Prominent Search” as #1. I opened twitter in another window and didn’t see the search bar till I read your post. I was to mesmerized watching the Trending Topics scroll go by. It’s like TV for those of us w/ubershort attention spans.

Nice overview. I’m definitely a fan of the new homepage design. It’s very focused and makes the value of Twitter very obvious. I’m interested in seeing the impact this has on the rate of new user registrations.
