Hi Sarah,

What are your thoughts on post volume/frequency?

Is it like Twitter; post as and when you feel or more like Facebook; post once or twice a day?

There's an applet I've been using, which will turn any highlighted text into an image. It's been a good way to rapidly get an image for a plain text blog post or article http://pinterest.com/maxholloway/beauty/ examples there. I even had a couple repins from it.

Mike - I completely understand your plight. Please separate good from bad (like with most things). I used to teach. I was all about my students. Others dialed it in for a paycheck. I 'got it.' I just didn't do it. It's who I am. Who/what is your brand? I hope genuine, providing value, and not (only) out to make money. We all want/need money, nothing innovative there.

Pinterest... blogs.. whatever new/old/to come SEO (do we still call it that?-all Rand was saying is that things have evolved. He observes a change, a difference, something including-yet-beyond present definition..but I digress) implement of interest, we want to discuss, does have potential. What is your brand going to do with the potential at hand? Please use platforms to engage your market, your business' community. People are smart; they observe a difference. Will Pinterest usher millions of dollars for your brand? Perhaps not. Can you use it effectively as another tool to engage your brand's community. Absolutely. "People in general.." Yes! Marketers (myself and many others) are getting annoyed too.. Especially because people who do the things for strict-commercial purposes are so transparent, impatient, have money-tunnel vision, and hardly offer value.

Let's leverage my teaching example. Teaching is necessary. Marketing is necessary. Bad teachers are sh*t. Bad marketers (the weasels and clients who hire them, though the former may be savvy as to how to make you a quick and impressive buck) are sh*t too IMO. Don't hate the game; hate the 'players,' - the Gordon Gecko types, the sleazy-I-dont-have-skills-to-do-things-right-so-I-need-to-abuse types. There are plenty of 'marketers' (we're on such a site now) who don't/won't/and would never need to weasel on their behalf and that of clients.

So don't be a weasel. Do something that's worthy paying attention to. What visuals is your audience interested in?

Maybe it's awesomely designed server rooms
Or nightmare server rooms that the IT people can't even get in
Or sayings or posters or mantras they subscribe to
Or vintage ads
Or a chart explaining bandwidth needs

You'd be surprised how sexy data and visualizations can make otherwise "boring" topics.
