Great points Lisa. It is important to check the traffic that businesses is getting from their website. Nowadays, most consumers go online to see what are available for them. It is important to analyze and study the buying behavior of the consumers in order to create a lead generation strategy.

Great article Lisa. Spending time analyzing data and then doing nothing with it only wastes time. Within your analytics there are countless numbers that stare back at you but if you understand which numbers matter most, and act on them, your campaigns will successful.

You are absolutely correct. Data is great, as long as you plan on doing something with it! It takes time to go through analytics data, so it's important to use that data and take action.

Great stuff here Lisa!
I've noticed that lot's of companies are talking about analytics, but it's more like "see these analytics I got in my last report?" People need to start really looking at that data and then figuring out how what they've just seen can be used in next steps. The whole point of looking at these things is so we can learn from them. What are we doing right? What are we doing wrong? What needs to be improved? What are people saying about us that we can act on? etc.
Looking at data and acting on data are two completely different things and people need to start doing the latter more.

Cheers,

Great point, Lisa.

I must admit, we're still trying to implement our A/B split testing... and yet it seems to get buried under other "priorities." I think this week is our final straw...

Lisa -

Great insight on how people are not using analytics to their full potential.

It may come down to a number of "top execs" just not understanding their analytics either and not quite trusting those who try and explain the analytics to them. While the marketing and b2b team knows that something needs to be done, it is the next step up of convincing those who sign the checks to spend the money.

While the Google analytics interface is awesome and fairly easy to use (as you relearn the new one) the brief overview gives "the execs" the number that they want to see, number of visits.

It would be interesting to see how many out of that 80% have tried to pitch a new website to the top but have been denied from cost.

Just a few thoughts! As always, thanks for the great post!
