A great post, thanks! I think Psychology plays a huge role in client relations. It is hard work but I think it is very important to understand your client and what his or her goals are and adapt to that situation. This needs to be done sincerely, people often know when they are just being humoured. So I suggest taking a real interest in your client and find out what makes them comfortable and then take it from there.

Great post Sean,

I hate to use the phrase "If you're not part of the solution, then you're part of the problem" but in a fair amount of cases in our field of work it tends to be true, most of the time inadvertently.

The processes people would like to take and the ones they actually do may not be an issue in the present time, but could end up being one 6 months down the line and consequently resulting in the loss of a client.I think the most difficult task is to change bad habits and poor work practices.

Our company is launching a way for our clients to read, download, or suggest topics of interest to help them better understand what we're doing so those 30 minute phone calls turn into 15 minutes. I was guilty of trying to explain a lot of marketing and SEO with clients early on in my career, but realized exactly what you wrote is true, they don't want to hear why it's not working or how it works in general. The main focus is how are we making them more money to justify our charged fees.

Again, great post, thanks for the read!
