Excellent read of the discussion, some great points covered. The next 5 years will basically be about finding a balance between the new opportunities and the privacy concerns they cause. And it will not be restricted just to Google.

Holy hell! I missed a great session. Thank you Lisa for blogging this and bringing us who are in the darkness of our own 4 walls into the light.

There are privacy issues and that will be ongoing as technology continues to grow. If technology does not grow then the industry becomes stagnant and ultimately will die. We want the goods on others but when the tables are turned and the goods are about us, well then that is a different story.

How the information that Google or any search engine is able to gather is going to be used is where a lot have concerns. We are ok if it is used to put a mass murderer behind bars but if it is used to find someone to pay on their child support, then there is issue with that. Can this be regulated? Sure, with a lot of rulings from the courts and then overturns and then new rulings, etc. And by the time that there is good strong case law, technology will have changed the process starts all over again.

Thanks for putting yourself in the hot seat with the live blogging. Danny is a great guy and writes some of the best articles out there but, my money goes on you Lisa!
