OMG – “Social media success doesn’t exist. Social media does not make something successful. The content does, social media is the vehicle. If you suck, you just suck harder on social media. If you hate people, social media isn’t a good place to be.”

Love it.. I also say this about content…without it making money, being profitable, and contributing to business development all content isn’t successful … What do you think?

I’m sorry, but given where the definition of relationship is going – or where the gurus of marketing=relationship think they can take the definition (to enhance their position as a thought leaders) – the sending a “buy from me now” marketing email isn’t that far removed.

When YOU- Mr./Ms. social media maven or social network connection – lay awake at night, due to an awareness of and concerns about the state of my well-being THEN you might have license FROM ME to begin to ascribe to our connection in the world the word “relationship”.

“Trivial Pursuit” would be a better phrase for most of what passes for “relationship building”, as that phrase – relationship building – is employed by social marketing gurus: “Surely, YOU really MATTER to me, almost as much as having another name of my mailing list matters to me.”

Oh man. I wish I could have been there, but now…I kind of feel like I was.

This is just making me even more sad that not a single city in Ohio is on the unmarketing tour yet. Maybe I’ll try to raise funds so I can buy the advance copies myself! Now I’m angry…:)
