I could not agree more, As someone nearing 3 years in the field of social media, moving from assistant to manager and handling various brands on the agency side, my thoughts on being "on" have completely evolved with the position. When I started out I felt the need to CONSTANTLY be on and after almost 2 years of that I hit the burnout wall. Luckily, I was able to quickly pull myself back to a clear-minded place with the help of bosses and coworkers and the support to hire an assistant. I've also started making it a point to be offline at least for a few hours at some point during the evening and for longer stretches on the weekend. I still have a ways to go but the simple act of not turing on the computer and keeping the iPhone at a distance has helped. We're all human and we all require a mental downtime and offline distraction! And where some time-saving tools were once frowned upon by social media purists I believe that it's becoming more acceptable to use them as a way to save mental energy. I'm also happy you included the section on "perspective" as I believe that's the most important point of all. Thank you for sharing!
