Mack Collier was just saying during tonight’s #blogchat how often people email him about his “thank you” page. It struck me that it’s sad for people to be surprised by manners. Of course, it also occurred to me that I do not have such a page on my blog. I guess it’s time!

Thanks for the list! One thing that confuses me about it though is that you (at least somewhat) condone having “recent posts” as a list. Would the front-page of the site not suffice for this, or do you mean having that listing on the pages that host individual articles as well? I’ve seen too many people use these on their front pages and I’ve always doubted their effectiveness there (considering it basically just links to their already seen articles).

Also, if you do feel it would be a good idea to have recent posts on the article-level, would you advise against having that *and* a “most popular” listing?

I’ve started a site that’s got decent traffic and a lot of positive viewers, but the issue is reader retention. Bounce rates are up pretty high and I’d like to try and get things flowing better.

Perfect timing on the post. I just started updating some of these items on my blog. Love the “Stalking” idea, so true, I’m still laughing! I’m going to have steal the idea. “Give me that”

I also love the category page idea! Yay me. I’m going to work on that today. Wow, motivation without coffee or aderrall. Sweet.

I want to stick a spoon in my eye sometimes instead of browse all the crappy widgets on wordpress, install them, hate them, delete them, rinse & repeat. Do you mind sharing your favorites?
